Low Libido

Libido or loss of sex drive is a complex combination of physiological, psychological and the surrounding relationship/sexual environment of the individual. These factors all vary between female and males and libido concerns are about two times more common in women than men. But, on the other hand, the loss of libido has much more impact on a man than a woman according to some studies.

Female libido

The physiological factors affecting the sexual desires of a woman are much more complex than with a man. The hormonal factors controlling the reproductive cycles changes dramatically from puberty, to child bearing, to menopausal and then to postmenopausal year. With each of these natural changes libido may change. Beyond this disease or medications can alter hormone levels or other factors that affect libido. Then, even beyond this, are the compounding factors of psychological conditions and relationship situations. Depression, anxiety, stress and just basic emotional well-being can all have a psychological impact. Finally the relationship with a sexual partner, the quality of physical intimacy and basic feelings about sexual relationships can be a major contributor to female libido.
