Fatigue

Fatigue Overview: Essential oils are renowned for helping one feel more energetic and productive. There may be underlying reasons for fatigue, but even if fatigue is a symptom of a larger problem, essential oils can offer relief. A cause of fatigue can be physical, including over-exertion, low blood sugar, poor nutrition, obesity, and hypertension. Other causes of fatigue may be emotional like depression, hormonal imbalances, and stress. These cause may be obvious, if it is not, it might be important to see a physician. Whatever the cause, essential oils can be used complement any treatment. Eating healthy, getting plenty of rest, and regular detoxification are important factors that will help with fatigue. Citrus oils such as Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, and Wild Orange are excellent for stimulation and boosts energy. Highly recommended are citrus or elevating blends. Peppermint and Spearmint are awakening oils that are also good for shock or fainting.

Application: Diffuse one of the suggested oils or a blend throughout the day to boost energy. If away from home, make a blend with the favorite stimulating oils. For on-the-go situations rub the mix into the hands several times per day and cup and inhale, use an inhaler, or make a tissue cup. For help waking up in the morning use an uplifting oil or blend with a tissue cup, inhaler, or apply stimulating oils to the feet after a morning shower.

Suggested protocols:

To temporarily re-energize consider these techniques:

·    Put about 5 drops of Peppermint into the hand then pull the palm across the back of the neck just below the hairline, and spend a couple minutes massaging the oil in.  Work it from side  to side, and then pull the palm up the back of the head,  half way to the crown of the head.  Repeating hourly or more often is not harmful.

·    Put Joyful Blend, Peppermint, or a blend of Peppermint and Rosemary in an inhaler (similar to a Vicks inhaler, available at essential oils accessory stores).  Inhale with drowsiness as necessary.

To help restore balance in all body functions use the Massage Blend Technique and supplement it with necessary oils if there are obvious health issues.  This is a great source of relaxing and revitalizing when exhaustion and fatigue come from stress.
